Veteran's Day Thoughts
By Christy Bouska | November 11, 2009 at 04:26 PM EST | No Comments

It's a day to remember, and it's nice to see that those that have given so much to the rest of us are getting some of the recognition that they deserve.  It seems like we are starting to realize what this country is really about.

Those people who serve our country, who spend time away from their families and loved ones, get remembered only occasionally.   I don't know about a lot of things, but I do know that all the people who have loved their country and their freedom owe it to a vet. Too many people forget what being a part of the military is.

The discipline, the hard work, the dedication, the attributes that made this country great, is rarely seen in our society. Too often the focus is on the latest celebrity divorce or who's in rehab. It's a shame, because those who embody this country do not make headlines often enough.

I have been fortunate to be able to learn from many vet's, including my father.  They hold themselves to a higher standard, they take such pride in their work, they hold on dearly to their beliefs. I have learned so much from them, just from their actions.

I have also been able to learn from their families- the ones who go day to day waiting and dealing with every day life without their loved one.  It amazes me when I hear from the people I know how they do it.  They are as impassioned on their life and family with the same goals as their loved one who is far away.

So to all those who are serving now- Thank you.  We wish you safety from harms way.  Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice.  Thank you for protecting the liberties that we hold dear.

To all those who have served before- Thank you.  Thank you for the great tradition of a military presence you created for the world.  Thank you for giving us a history to be proud of and giving us strong character. Thank you for making us into the country we are.

To all the families who have made it while their loved ones were away- Thank you.  You helped our service people by supporting them with your everyday love and dedication.

To all the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice - Thank you.  May we never forget those who never came home.  We will always remember you and never forget that what you fought for is what we cherish---our freedom.

Is this really November?

As we still are getting calls and comments about our holiday open house, with Christmas Trees in the windows, ornaments from the ceiling...I look outside and its 60 some degrees in Waucoma.  Full sunny day with no breeze.

Its feels like October, but we are happy to be hearing from so many of you about our holiday meal solutions.  Just got off the phone with a client who would like her family's pie recipe recreated for the holidays.   I think it's great that people trust us with helping them provide the memories that they shared when they were growing up.

Food seems to be a central theme.  My Grandpa & Grandma Klinner woud always make this great beef barely soup, homemade jelly, and fresh bread.  It wasn't fancy, but you could tell that they worked really hard at each part of it.  And they loved the reaction that they got from us girls when we saw what was for lunch.  I think we would eat a whole loaf.  I remember their smiles (and I think awe) on how these little girls would eat all that food.

So when our friends and clients ask us to be a part of their holiday celebration, I really feel special.  We are being asked to be a part of that memory and I am grateful.

Although the sun is bright and the dreary winter seems far, far away, I think I found Thanksgiving a little earlier this year.

Hello world!

First Blog for Lynch BBQ Company. Lots to say.

First I would like to thank all the people who visited our little corner of Iowa to check out our open house. It was great to see all the familar faces and new ones as well. We had so much great food, bacon cheddar potatoes, glazed sweet potoates, apple, pumpkin and buttermilk pies, pork loin, St. Louis Ribs, Chicken Marsala...it was great. We appreciated all the great feedback from our attendies.

We were also able so showcase many of the great gifts available, as well as sample the products.

It was also a great to have so many people on our team help us with the open house. We are so fortunate to have great staff that care deeply about what we do. It is a awesome effort by a lot of people to pull together our open houses, and it was a success because of their efforts. We are very lucky to have a great group of people with fantastic talents. We are a great team; and I am very lucky to work with them.

On the Web site, we are working to get our new catalog up and going. We have added more shipping options, as well as product tracking, and more security features. This will make our shopping cart easier to work and make ordering simpler. If you do need to order, contact us at 800-468-3178 and we would be glad to assist you.

The holiday are coming soon! Keep checking the web site for more updates.

We'll be blogging back at you soon-Christy
